Academic and Professional Background

  • Background:

BSc in Plant Protection, Bou Ali Sina University, Iran & MSc in Plant Pathology, Ferdowsi University, Iran & Faculty member in Dryland Agricultural Research Institute, Iran

  • Research:

Understanding the survival, persistence, and bioactivity of the biocontrol agent Trichoderma atroviride LU132. Biological control using microbial antagonists has been identified as a promising method to control plant pests and diseases. Trichoderma is one of the most commonly used fungal biocontrol agents with several commercial products available. Researchers from Lincoln University have developed T. atroviride LU132 as a biological control agent for use against onion white rot and Botrytis grey mould of grapes. Previous studies have shown that Trichoderma growth and reproduction are heavily influenced by abiotic factors. Understanding the factors that influence the survival, persistence, and bioactivity of T. atroviride LU132 will be the focus of my PhD study. In particular, the effect of culturing conditions on the viability, survivability and bioactivity of LU132 spores will be determined. Underpinning research to determine the cellular basis of fungal reaction to different growth and storage conditions will also be conducted
