Academic and Professional Background

  • Personal Resume:

Kevin has a BSc in Environmental Geoscience from Cardiff University, and an MSc in Plant Diversity from the University of Reading. His MSc investigated possible hybridisation between Quercus robur (English oak) and Q. cerris (Turkey oak) and was sponsored by the Royal Horticultural Society.

Kevin's passion for plants covers the full botanical spectrum: from ecology to horticulture, from plant taxonomy to field botany, including higher and lower plants. His PhD research will use the genus Trifolium as a model organism to investigate aspects of the enemy release hypothesis, focusing on plant-soil feedback attributable to below-ground enemies. The work is funded by a Marsden grant and includes collaboration with Wim van der Putten at the Netherlands Institute of Ecology. His project is being supervised by Profs Richard Duncan and Philip Hulme.
