  Matt has worked at the Mt. Albert Research Centre in Auckland for 25 years and is also an honorary lecturer at Auckland University, contributing to stage three and four plant pathology courses.  
  
  His research interests have focused on understanding how plant pathogenic fungi cause disease in plants.  His current work with the Centre involves understanding the genetic and molecular basis for vegetative incompatibility in the grey mould fungus Botrytis cinerea.
