  A research scientist with expertise in genetics and plant breeding, seed production and technology transfer, Dr Mike Dunbier is a past Chief Executive of Crop & Food Research and past director of DSIR Crop Research.

  He now works as an independent Director and consultant and is Chairman of the Governance Group NIWA OBI Coasts and Oceans, the Pastoral Genomics Consortium and the HortNZ Vegetable Product Groups Research & Innovation Board. He is a Director of the Foundation for Arable Research and a member of the Industry Advisory Board, GIPI Project Canterbury/Lincoln universities.

  In 2005 he received the Bledisloe Medal from Lincoln University, and he is a Fellow of both the NZ Institute of Agricultural Science and the NZ Institute of Management.
