Soils hold more carbon than the atmosphere, playing a vital role in regulating climate. By increasing carbon storage and stability in soils, we can build resilience to climate change while enhancing ecosystem health.
This project focuses on understanding how different land uses affect soil carbon storage and stability. It will examine how cover crops contribute to deep carbon sequestration and determine how land management practices can promote soil resilience and microbial health across Aotearoa.
