I am pursuing a PhD in Microbiology and Genetics, with research interests in plant pathology and molecular biology. My doctoral research aims to gain a better understanding of how the AvrRvi4 effector protein of Venturia inaequalis contributes to successful colonisation and disease in apple, and determine how V. inaequalis overcomes resistance mediated by the apple resistance protein, Rvi4.
I hold a Bachelor of Science (double major in Microbiology and Genetics) and Master of Science in Genetics (First Class Honours) from Massey University, Palmerston North.
My ultimate goal is a career in academia, applying my skills and knowledge to address plant health problems globally.
