I am an ecologist with expertise in biodiversity, biosecurity, conservation, invasive species, and urban ecology. I grew up in Dunedin but have been in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Auckland since 2007. My curiosity for nature as a child sparked my journey into ecology. I also have a passion for science communication that hopefully inspires others to connect with nature and support biodiversity.
My interests are diverse, but my research aims to understand and mitigate the impacts of people on terrestrial biodiversity, particularly invasive species and urban development. I work with a variety of research partners, biodiversity and biosecurity agencies and community stakeholders to inform decision-making through my research. I love working with postgraduate students and guiding their progress to the next stage of their careers, and enjoy seeing how they contribute to society.
