I’m originally from North Sumatra, Indonesia, and have been living in New Zealand since 2024. I am a recipient of Bioprotection Aotearoa’s PhD scholarship, supervised by Prof. Peter Fineran (University of Otago) and Dr. Hanareia Ehau-Taumaunu (Plant & Food Research). My research investigates how complex microbial communities influence the efficacy of phage-based biocontrol, their interactions, and the emergence of phage resistance.

I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Indonesia, where I primarily worked with marine fungi and their secondary metabolites. I then worked as a researcher in Japan and China before moving to New Zealand. My research experience spans microbial biodiversity, microbial natural products, and the discovery of novel species.

In my spare time, I enjoy travelling with my family, cooking our favourite Indonesian dishes, and spending time with friends. Over the next five years, my goal is to complete my PhD within three years, then work as a scientist in a research institute or pursue a postdoc. In ten years, I hope to be a Professor (fingers crossed!).
