I am a plant pathologist and PhD student in Microbiology with Bioprotection Aotearoa. My research focuses on quantifying pathogen taxa in healthy ecosystems, with broader interests in molecular plant pathology, biological control, and ecosystem mycology.
I completed my BSc in Agriculture, specialising in Plant Pathology, at Visayas State University in the Philippines. Through the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programme, I earned degrees in PlantHealth in Sustainable Cropping Systems from Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain) and in Crop Protection from Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (Germany). I’ve also worked on a wide range of organisms, from phytopathogenic bacteria and oomycetes to entomopathogenic fungi and predatory mites, aiming to understand their biology better and how it can be harnessed to mitigate pest outbreaks in agroecosystems.
Outside the lab, I enjoy folk dance (especially dansa valenciana), baking, cooking, and hiking.
