Be part of a project that develops innovative soil protocols and explores sustainable agricultural solutions—gain hands-on lab experience, expand your research skills, and contribute to critical environmental research!

Project Overview

The scholar will complete two aims:

  1. collate, develop, and document standard protocols to measure attributes associated with soil carbon and microbes;
  2. undertake a literature review on the topic of cover crop choice in a holistic framework, incorporating knowledge of biology, cultural, and socio-economic impacts in decision-making.

The protocols will be used by multiple people for the next four years. An interest in understanding of the physical/chemical/biological nature of soils is an asset.

We are looking for someone who is interested in working in a lab environment and has excellent written and verbal communication skills who can engage with a range of people. The student will be based in the School of Biological Sciences at Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington. All training will be provided.

Scholarship Amount

A total of $7000 tax free is available for each scholarship. Fortnightly payments will be made for the duration of the scholarship, with the final payment of $1000 on receipt of the approved student project report.
